I looked into this ride, and boy is it expensive. Airfare is ridiculous, and if you want to spend any extra time in Bhutan you have to pay $400 per day tariff and must have a government escort with you at all times. I had no idea you could not just go wherever and whenever you wanted in the country. It doesn’t seem worth it since the event has less than 50 participants, and no experienced promoter running the show. Too much of a crap shoot for the large investment.

Why is this event listed as a 24 Hour Race? It is not, only proof that the promoter and person who posted this knows nothing about MTB racing or events. Also, it’s not even a real MTB race, it’s on all surfaced roads with no trails at all! Maybe they just have mountain bikes in Bhutan, and are calling it such? Yes, not worth the 10 grand investment to do a road ride, with amateurs running the show.

I think this event sounds fantastic. I think they posted it as it takes 24 hours, not like a 24 hour event. I wonder what the total cost would really be? It would be great if they would give a little more details on the website for people coming from other countries. I wonder if you could do it on a road bike? Sometimes it worth breaking the piggy bank!
