Want to have more fun on the trails? Want to be more efficient and mountain bike with more confidence? Still find yourself hoping to make some corners, getting nervous in tight switchbacks or feeling lucky, not skilled after that technical section? Gene Hamilton and his team of professional coaches know how you feel, because they have all been there. Just like any other sport, to ride with skill you need proper technique.
With over 20 years of coaching experience including 12 years coaching downhill mountain biking Gene knows out to get you riding at your best. His coaching highlights include coaching many top pro racers (Chris Van Dine, Mitch Ropelato, Joey Schusler, Bryson Martin, Brian Buell, Graeme Pitts, Chris Canfield, Naish Ulmer…) as well as hundreds of riders and racers of all levels looking to reach their best.
This comprehensive 3 day camp will help you with both the mental and physical sides of mountain biking. The goal is to help you reach your potential by teaching you the core skills of mountain biking and the drills to master these skills. These are the non-intuitive skills that still eluded Gene after 15 years of riding and kept him from reaching his potential. Learning and becoming proficient at these skills will allow you to ride in balance and in control making you a more efficient and confident rider.
At BetterRide Gene and his coaches truly enjoy helping riders progress and would love to share these techniques and the drills for practicing, getting good at and eventually mastering these techniques with you. This is the most fun and informative mountain bike school you will ever attend. Sign up for a Camp and start riding up to your potential!
Dirt Magazine to 2009 Pro 4x and Jr. Cat 1 Downhill US National Champion Mitch Ropelato in a interview in the Oct. 2009 issue: “You seem to be able to turn amazingly, what do you put that down to? Got any special tires on there?
Mitch Ropelato: “Ya, Gene Hamilton is to thank for that, I took is clinic last December in Bootleg Canyon and he was able to show me the correct technique I needed to pull them off.”

The core, fundamental skills of downhill mountain bike racing (these core skills are not intuitive, unless someone taught you them it is unlikely that would know and understand them. Few US racers know the core skills and even fewer can do them well (which is the main reason we do poorly at the international level) (I didn’t learn many of these skills until my sixth through tenth seasons as a pro racer). I really get the rider to understand these techniques with drills (that you take home with you for further practice and improvement) and then on trail application of the skills.
