The festival kicks off with a 7 mile run and mountain bike races of four distances, to suit riders of all ability levels. All races will begin between 9:00 and 10:15 AM. The flagship mountain bike race, named “The Big Gulch,” has been designed by mountain bike Olympian and 1999 national champion, Travis Brown. Awards and music will follow the races at Carver Brewing Company from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Carver’s will introduce a Big Gulch special event brew during the awards ceremony.

Cost: $47
License: for Elite and Cat 1 only
Course Description: Open mountain bike catagories will ride the Big Gulch. Age categories may choose to ride the Big Gulch or ½ Gulch. Age catagories 16 and under will ride the kids Gulch.

The Big Gulch:
Two laps of the following:
Riders start at Three Springs > Grand View Ridge > Side Winder > Telegraph Hill > Anasazi Decent > Mikes > Power Line > Extended Raider Ridge > Flame Out > Meadow > Telegraph > Crites > South Rim > Grand View Ridge > Three Springs.

½ Gulch:- The same route as the Big Gulch but only one lap. Juniors and Cat 2 riders will skip the Ridge and head out on Mikes once they reach Horse Gulch road. Cat 3 and Youth riders will ride to Telegraph and turn left on to Crites and complete South Rim.

Kids Fun Race:
The kids fun race, for children ages 6-10, will be led by Devo mountain bike coaches. Children will work on skills and enjoy a non competitive fun race. We will meet at the park on Mercado street located 100 yards from the start/fishish line at 8:45-9:00.

You can pick up your child at 11:30 am at the same place you dropped them off. If you are riding in the ½ gulch race, you can pick up your child after your race.

After you drop your child off, we will form groups and start working on skills. You are encouraged to leave the area while we do this. After the skills session, we will head over to the short track located behind Mercy Regional Medical Center. At this time, we welcome your presence. All children must have a bike in good repair (no training wheels please) and a helmet. We will provide one adult for every eight children. In order to participate, your child must be a proficient bike rider on paved and dirt surfaces. Make sure your child is fueled up with a good breakfast, used the bathroom and has sunscreen applied.

Telegraph Trail Run ~7 miles:
Runners will start at Three Springs > Sidewinder > Telegraph Hill > Crites > Side Winder > Cowboy > Three Springs
